It’s the baptism rite.
The baptism rite! You’re kidding.
Well, I got to wondering what I was getting into when I was baptized. I came acrosos this prayer. It says, in part, “may the Lord touch your mouth to proclaim his faith, to the praise and glory to God the Father.” That’s really something.
Indeed it is. The infant had no idea of what he was getting into. But now as an adult, he realizes what it means.
But how can my mouth proclaim His faith? I’m not a preacher, I’m not
a missionary. How can I fulfill this prayer?
I heard on Relevant Radio something that spoke to that question. The priest talked about our duty to spread the gospel. He had a rather simple way to do it.
Go on. I’m all ears.
He invited us to think of the persons we meet during the day, like the clerk at Aldi’s. Or the man at the gas station. Or even somebody you meet on your daily walk.
What did he want us to do?
Simply say to the person, along with
saying thank you, say, “God bless you!”
But that’s not spreading the gospel.
Well, it’s not the whole gospel but it is something. It’s a way of bringing God into our daily lives.
I’m going to try it.
